Cisnadia is a city with strong German influences, located 10km south of Sibiu on the valley of the Argintului brook and at the foot of Măgura Cisnădiei, a peak that is part of the Cindrelului mountains. The fortified church in the city, as well as the one in Cisnadioara, 3 km away, are two tourist points of interest in the Sibiu area, both dating back to around 1200.
There are three access roads to Sibiu, directly, through Cisnădioara and Dumbrava Sibiului or on the national road. 2km from the city is the climb on the Bucharest – Arad highway, which easily connects Cisnadia to any area of Sibiu, including the airport, which is 30 minutes by highway.
In the area there are about 20km of bike path between Sibiu – Cisnădie – Cisnădioara – Rășinari – Sibiu, and the mountain resort Păltiniș is 30km, about 40 minutes from the city. Also the Village Museum (Muzeul Satului) which is the largest open-air museum in Europe is located on the route Rășinari – Sibiu, about 6km from us.
This year, 2021, Sibiu being the European Capital of Hiking, Cisnadia is in the middle of the biggest event of its kind.
